In the train with Ukrainian Refugees
At the train station of Przemysl, near the border town of Medyka, Ukrainian refugees arrive on the train from Lviv. At the station after, crossing the border checks, they are dispatched in trains to go all across Poland. In this series, I took the train with them to their next destination, Krakow, in their exile.
A three hour in a crowded trains, where the transport fee is free for persons with an Ukrainian passport. Leaving Ukraine behind and going West.
The train is full and some families must remain in the wagon dedicated to bikes transportation.
For the children the wait is still long after already several days of travel. Although Anya was playful and wanted to play with my camera for most of the trip, she also had her downs due to exhaustion.
In eastern Europe countries, there is still a major culture of the train transportation and especially travelling in compartments. In there you can feel the relief of refugees as they leave the danger behind but face a total unknown future.
